Two mansions owned by former Chelsea and Ghana midfielder Michael Essien are slated for auction following an order from the Accra High Court.

The sale was mandated by the Deputy Sheriff of the High Court (Commercial Division) on June 12, 2024, as a result of a recent ruling against Essien.

According to the Daily Guide, the properties are located at Stephen Quarshie Crescent, East Legon (House Number 9), and at Trassaco (Phase 2), Adjiringano (House Number 204/205), both in Accra. One of these properties is reportedly valued between $20 million and $30 million.

According to Africa Soccer, Essien’s financial troubles are due to significant loans he obtained from multiple banks and financial institutions in Ghana.

The 41-year-old former midfielder enjoyed a distinguished playing career with top clubs including Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Lyon.
