Social Media giant and parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, Meta has rolled out a subscription package for its Blue Tick Verification. The service is called Meta Verified.
Users can now get verified on Facebook and Instagram if they subscribe to the blue tick at $12 per month.
The feature, rolled out in the UK on Tuesday, will allow users of the social media services to pay £9.99 a month in return for a blue tick verification badge on their profiles.
The Meta Verified also gives users access to extra features such as two-factor authentication, which provides extra security against hackers.
To get verified, users will have to upload a copy of a government-issued ID to the website access to features including.
Meta verified users can also use exclusive stickers across Facebook, Reels and Instagram Stories.
iPhone users will have to pay a little more for the verified badge on Instagram or Facebook app.They will have to pay $15 per month, a result of a surcharge that Apple applies to purchases through its App Store.
Meta is launhing after Twitter did a similar overhaul with its verification process. After acquiring the firm, Elon Musk announced he will charge for verification and launched a paid verification service called Twitter Blue in April, 2023.
Unlike Twitter, Meta may not be deverifying existing accounts with verification badges. Hence, old verified accounts on Facebook and Instagram will have to retain their badges, while new users can subscribe to get and remain verified.
