Shettima is Billed to Lead Discussions on African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) and Global Energy Transition at the World Economic Forum Event
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed for Davos, Switzerland, to represent Nigeria at the 2024 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.
The announcement was made in a press release from the State House, signed by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media and Communications, Office of The Vice President.
Shettima is set to participate in the plenary session, focusing on global socio-economic and development issues alongside political and business leaders from around the world.
A key highlight on his agenda is the launch of the Private Sector Action Plan for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) at a special session that he will co-chair.
The press release highlighted, “Top on Vice President Shettima’s agenda, apart from the plenary session, is the launch of the Private Sector Action Plan for African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) at a special session to be co-chaired by him.
He is also billed to hold high-level discussions with the Managing Director of IFC, Makhtar Diop, and the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, among others.”
In addition to these engagements, the former Borno state governor is expected to chair a roundtable dialogue on Nigeria’s economic path on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum. Shettima will also attend a special session dedicated to building trust in the global energy transition program.
The press release concluded by stating that Vice President Shettima is anticipated to return to the country at the weekend.
