During the meeting, Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, expressed readiness to partner with NEPC to streamline export processes, alleviate bottlenecks, and foster a conducive environment for exporters.

Highlighting the importance of redefining exports to bolster outbound trade, CGC Adeniyi emphasized the need for enhanced logistical support.

In response, Nonye Ayeni, Executive Director CEO of NEPC, lauded CGC Adeniyi’s achievements since taking office in 2023 and underscored Nigeria’s abundant resources, particularly in agriculture and solid minerals.

Ayeni stressed the significance of non-oil exports for economic growth and advocated for collaborative efforts to realize the “Export 35 redefined” initiative.

The meeting also saw Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya of Customs Area Controller Lilypond Export Command Lagos highlighting the crucial role of Nigeria Export Proceeds (NXP) in facilitating trade. He emphasized that no formal export could proceed without NXP, pinpointing its absence as a major challenge for exporters.

The partnership between the Customs Service and NEPC signifies a concerted effort to enhance trade operations, minimize logistical hurdles, and promote economic growth through increased exports.

This collaborative endeavour underscores the commitment of both agencies to drive Nigeria’s export sector forward.
