Police Recruitment: Applicants Set for Medical Screening on April 16

Police Service Commission cites religious reason for the new date

The Police Service Commission has announced a rescheduling of the medical screening/examination for candidates seeking recruitment into the constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.

The decision, attributed to ongoing Muslim Ramadan fast and the Christian lenten period, aims to allow candidates to fulfill their religious obligations.

The screening, originally slated to commence earlier, will now kick off on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, and is expected to span two weeks.

Specialist applicants who completed physical and credentials screening but missed the JAMB-conducted computer-based tests will undergo practical tests and medical screening during this period.

The examinations will take place across the 17 Zonal Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, as well as in Kaduna, Yobe, and Zamfara states, with special consideration given due to security challenges in those regions.

Candidates from these states will conduct their screenings and practical tests in their respective states of origin, utilizing police colleges located in states hosting the Zonal Command Headquarters as venues.

Dr. Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and National Coordinator of the Recruitment Exercise, expressed satisfaction that the recruitment process is nearing completion, stating, “We are meticulously looking for high-flyers and committed young Nigerians who will grow to become the bedrock of a new Nigerian security architecture.”

Successful candidates from the medical screening phase will proceed to police colleges for mandatory training.

Dr. Arase commended the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), particularly Prof. Ishaq Oloyede and his management team, for the success of the computer-based tests, highlighting JAMB’s reputation for excellence and reliability in such examinations.

The announcement reassured the public that the recruitment process adheres to international standards and addresses local security challenges.

Dr. Arase expressed confidence that subsequent recruitments will bolster security efforts across the nation by ensuring an adequate presence of trained personnel.
