Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, reiterated the need to eschew divisive politics, urging detractors to prioritize common interests over personal agendas.

Speaking during a meeting with the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Refinery Turnaround Maintenance, Governor Fubara emphasized that politics should focus on mutual benefit rather than animosity.

Addressing the Committee led by Chairman Sen. Ifeanyi Uba at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara underscored the importance of cooperation in governance. He commended the Committee for its diligence in assessing the possibility of revitalizing the refinery, expressing satisfaction with the progress made towards its operational revival.

Governor Fubara further outlined his administration’s support for the refinery’s impending operations, citing the construction of the Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery link road as a critical infrastructure project nearing completion. The road, he noted, will facilitate smoother transportation to the refinery site, alleviating congestion on the East-West road.

In alignment with the vision of President Tinubu’s administration, Governor Fubara stressed the significance of the refinery’s reactivation in fostering economic growth and reducing import dependence.

He emphasized the potential for increased foreign exchange earnings and enhanced internally generated revenue once the refinery is fully operational.

Chairman Sen. Ifeanyi Uba lauded Governor Fubara’s dedication to serving the people of Rivers State, affirming the Committee’s commitment to evaluating the progress of refinery maintenance efforts.

Following their assessment, Sen. Uba expressed optimism about the refinery’s imminent return to full operation, projecting a significant milestone before the year’s end.

As Governor Fubara reiterated his administration’s unwavering focus on delivering quality leadership amidst challenges, the meeting concluded with a renewed sense of collaboration and optimism towards achieving developmental objectives for the people of Rivers State.
