Tragedy struck the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Chief Obinna Atuonu, the organising secretary, reportedly passed away at the age of 65. The sad incident occurred during a church service in Aba, the commercial hub of the state, where Atuonu was addressing parishioners.
According to information gathered, Atuonu’s demise took place suddenly, catching his family and associates by surprise. On the day of his passing, his only surviving brother, Dr. Chiedozie Atuonu, received a distressing call urging him to rush to Aba from Umuahia, where he was at the time.
Upon his arrival, Dr. Atuonu found his brother in critical condition and swiftly arranged for him to be taken to the hospital. However, despite efforts to save him, Chief Obinna Atuonu was pronounced dead upon arrival at the medical facility.
A family source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the body of the late APC organising secretary has been transferred to the morgue, as arrangements are being made for his final rites.
