Two employees of FoodCo, located at Ring Road branch in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Ebenezer Olusesi, aged 31, and Ibrahim Adeniyi, aged 41, appeared before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan on Monday for allegedly stealing 2 loaves of bread valued at N2,600 from their employer.
Both Olusesi, who works as a baker, and Adeniyi, employed as a security guard, pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft brought against them.
The prosecution, led by Cpl. David Adepoju, informed the court that the defendants purportedly conspired to commit the crime, alleging that on April 28, they stole two loaves of bread worth N2,600 belonging to FoodCo Company, situated at Ring Road, Ibadan, as represented by Friday Achibong.
Adepoju specified that their actions contravened Sections 390(a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
In response, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties required for each accused, both of whom must present tax evidence covering the past two years.
Ogunkanmi stipulated that one of the sureties must be a relative of each defendant.
The case was adjourned until August 15th for further proceedings.
