NNPC E&P Ltd, NOSL Launch Oil Production in Akwa Ibom State

NNPCL Refutes Claims of $6.8bn Debt to Foreign Oil Traders

NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NNPC E&P Ltd.) and Natural Oilfield Services Ltd. (NOSL) have commenced oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom State.

According to Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., production began on May 6th, 2024, with an initial output of 6,000 barrels per day, which is expected to increase to 40,000 barrels per day by May 27th, 2024.

“This achievement marks a new era of economic opportunities and empowerment for local communities,” said Soneye.

The partnership between NNPC E&P Ltd. and NOSL prioritizes safety, environmental stewardship, and mutual benefits for host communities.

Soye said the commencement of oil production from OML 13 is strategically important for Nigeria, contributing to the country’s efforts to boost oil production capacity, meet domestic energy demands, and drive economic growth.

“Furthermore, for Nigeria, the first oil from OML 13 holds some significance as it contributes to the country’s efforts to increase its oil production capacity, which is crucial for meeting domestic energy needs and driving economic growth,” he said.
