FG Orders Federal Airports To Collect a fee At Airport Gates

The Nigerian government, under President Bola Tinubu, has announced that all users of federal airports nationwide will now be required to pay tolls at airport gates. This decision was among the approvals granted by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) following its meeting in Abuja on Monday and Tuesday.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, revealed the new policy in a statement listing the FEC’s approvals. He emphasized that the toll requirement applies to everyone, including the President and Vice President.

“Following thorough discussions, the council endorsed several policies and projects designed to enhance the economy, attract investments, and simplify business operations in the country,” Onanuga announced. “The FEC decided that all users of federal airports nationwide (within Nigeria) will be required to pay tolls at the entry gates, without exception. This includes the President and Vice President of Nigeria.”

Additionally, the FEC approved the supply, installation, and training of operators for a disabled aircraft recovery system at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. This contract is valued at N4.2 billion. Onanuga noted that a similar contract was awarded in 2021 for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
