CHOLERA: NDDC’s Comprehensive Strategy to Curb Spread in Niger Delta

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at curbing the spread of cholera across communities in the Niger Delta.

Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of NDDC, outlined these crucial initiatives during a recent address in Port Harcourt ahead of the Niger Delta Summit.

Ogbuku affirmed NDDC’s commitment to ensuring access to clean water for all communities, stressing the urgency of the situation. “Cholera remains a significant concern,” he emphasized, “which is why we are not just deploying solar-powered boreholes but also actively seeking cholera vaccines.”

Highlighting the importance of water provision, Ogbuku underscored NDDC’s proactive approach. “Our efforts are aimed at preempting the spread of cholera by ensuring widespread access to clean water across the Niger Delta,” he explained. “Every community will soon benefit from solar boreholes, enhancing water accessibility.”

Niger Delta Summit and Policy Reforms

The upcoming Niger Delta Summit promises crucial discussions on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with a focus on amending the NDDC Act to overcome existing challenges. “Amendment discussions are pivotal,” Ogbuku noted, “as they will pave the way for effective governance reforms.“

Optimism for Tangible Improvements anticipating constructive outcomes from the summit, Ogbuku expressed optimism: “This summit marks a turning point where collective action will drive tangible improvements in our region. Let us unite to address our challenges comprehensively.”
