President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a youth secretariat for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Wike made the announcement on Monday during a town hall meeting at the Bwari Area Council of the FCT, where he mobilized youths against joining the planned hunger protest.
The minister had previously promised to table the request before the President during similar town hall meetings in the Abuja Municipal Area Council and the Abaji Area Council.
In addition to the youth secretariat, Wike also announced that President Tinubu had approved the appointment of an indigene as the Head of the FCT Public Complaints Commission.
The minister commended the youths for choosing dialogue over joining the planned #EndBadGovernance protests, saying it showed their maturity and support for the administration.
The approved youth secretariat is expected to provide a platform for youths in the FCT to engage with the government and address their concerns.
