The victims, a 66-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man, were tragically murdered while doing their morning workout, a routine they likely never imagined would end in such a brutal manner. The assault also left a 68-year-old man in serious condition and a 26-year-old man moderately injured. All three wounded were quickly transported by paramedics to Wolfson Medical Center for urgent medical treatment, according to Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA).

The Terrorist’s Identity and Background

The assailant, identified as 34-year-old Amar Razak Kamel Odeh from Salfit in the West Bank, was in Israel illegally, without a residence permit. Odeh’s violent spree began behind a gas station on Moshe Dayan Street and continued through three separate locations over approximately 500 meters. The stabbings occurred at the park entrance, a bus stop near the gas station, and the entrance to a bus parking lot on Dan Shomron Street, indicating a calculated effort to maximize casualties.

Following the attack, Interim Police Commissioner Avshalom Peled and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir promptly arrived at the scene. The swift response highlights the heightened state of alert within the country.

Israel Police spokesman Eli Levy issued a stern warning to the public, urging heightened vigilance in light of the multiple alerts for potential terrorist attacks and the incitement to violence prevalent on social media. Levy also encouraged those legally permitted and trained to carry firearms to do so at all times, emphasizing the critical role of public readiness in preventing further tragedies.

The aftermath of the attack has seen an outpouring of condolences and support from Israeli officials and citizens alike.
