Mrs. Walson-Jack, born on August 27, 1966, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Lagos and was called to the bar in 1987.

President Bola Tinubu has formally inaugurated Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack as the newly appointed Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), marking the beginning of her tenure in this key position.

The ceremony took place at 1:00 pm on Monday at the Council Chamber of Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, just before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

Mrs. Walson-Jack succeeds Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, whose tenure ended on August 12, 2024, just before reaching the retirement age of 60. The appointment follows the President’s approval on July 17.

In his address, President Tinubu acknowledged the significant role of the new Head of Service and expressed hope for her success. “You’re stepping into very big shoes, and we pray that God continues to guide you, provide you with wisdom and enhance your integrity to serve this country and the civil service in the most successful way,” he said.

Tinubu also praised Dr. Yemi-Esan for her outstanding service. “We thank her for her commitment, duty, and loyalty,” he noted.

Mrs. Walson-Jack, born on August 27, 1966, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Lagos and was called to the bar in 1987.

Her career includes roles as Solicitor-General of Bayelsa State, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, and pioneer State Co-ordinator of the Rivers State Office of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. Most recently, she served as Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education.

Following the swearing-in, President Tinubu chaired the FEC meeting, which had been postponed from the previous week due to discussions on nationwide protests.
