Governor Fubara Pledges Crackdown on Fake IT Professionals in Rivers State
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared war on quackery in the Information Technology (IT) sector, throwing his full support behind the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) to ensure only certified IT professionals operate within the state’s civil service.

Speaking at the recent NCS International Conference in Port Harcourt, Fubara announced plans to mandate certification by the NCS for all IT professionals in the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC) as a prerequisite for promotions.

Fubara emphasized his commitment to elevating IT standards within the state, leveraging his experience as a former civil servant to push for greater professionalism.

“We are determined to eradicate quackery in the IT profession.”

Fubara asserted, adding that Rivers State is poised to lead in adopting cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to boost work efficiency.

NCS President, Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, lauded the governor’s proactive stance, noting that Rivers State could soon become Nigeria’s IT hub due to the government’s commitment to technological advancement. The conference, themed ‘Technological Solutions for Smart Economy (SmartEco 2024),’ highlighted the critical role of IT in driving modern economies and governance.
