Nigerian actor and director Ramsey Nouah is set to captivate audiences with his latest directorial venture, Tokunbo, Netflix Friday, August 23, 2024. This film marks Nouah’s third directorial feature and delves into the gritty world of crime and desperation in Nigeria.
Tokunbo follows the intense journey of a smuggler who is racing against time to deliver a government official’s daughter to her captor. With only three hours to complete the mission, the stakes are perilously high failure could have fatal repercussions for him and his loved ones.
The film boasts a stellar cast including Gideon Okeke, Chidi Mokeme, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Nobert Young, Majid Michael, Adunni Ade, Ivie Okujaye, Tosin Adeyemi, Stanley ‘Funnybone’ Chibunna, Darasimi Nadi, and Aaron Sunday.
Nouah, who won the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2010 for The Figurine, made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Living in Bondage: Breaking Free in 2019. This film, a remake of the classic Living in Bondage, garnered seven awards at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2020. Following that success, he directed Rattle Snake: The Ahanna Story, a remake of the 1995 classic Rattlesnake, also produced by Odeh.
