Abuja, Nigeria — Key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the banner of PDP Frontliners, have condemned former Kogi State Governorship candidate Dino Melaye for his recent verbal attacks on the party’s leadership.

The group accused Melaye of discrediting the party with unfounded allegations, particularly his claims that the PDP under Amb. Umar Damagum’s leadership has become “commercialised and privatised.”

The PDP Frontliners, in a statement signed by Alhaji Hussein Mohammed (President), Mr. Moses Abidemi (Secretary), and Mr. Dan Okafor (Publicity Secretary), condemned Melaye’s comments as disrespectful and unfounded, expressing their strong disapproval.

The group criticized Melaye for accusing the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, of being responsible for the party’s recent challenges.

The PDP Frontliners accused Melaye of mismanaging campaign resources, which they claim contributed to the party’s poor performance in the Kogi State governorship election, where it garnered only 46,000 votes. They also alleged that Melaye did not even cast his vote in the election.

The group also refuted Melaye’s social media statement on X (formerly Twitter), where he declared the “end of the road for PDP” and accused the party leadership of “destroying the party.” The statement from PDP Frontliners suggested that Melaye’s attacks on the leadership were driven by frustration over the national leadership’s decision to prevent the replacement of results from a recent ad-hoc delegates’ conference in Kogi State.
