Portable Ignites Outrage: 'Fela Died Early for Not Minding His Business' – Fans React to Shocking Statement
Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has stirred up fresh debate regarding the life and legacy of Afrobeats icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

During a recent appearance on the Echoo Room podcast with host Quincy Jonze, Portable made the bold claim that Fela’s early death was the result of his activism and involvement in social and political issues.

In the interview, Portable suggested that Fela’s outspoken stance on Nigerian politics and social injustice contributed to his untimely death. He insinuated that if Fela had focused more on his personal life, rather than fighting for the rights of Nigerians, he might have lived longer.

“According to what we were told, if Fela had minded his business a little, he would have lived longer. But he was busy fighting for Nigerians wey no fight for their selves,” Portable said.

The statement has sparked reactions online, with some defending Fela’s legacy as a fearless activist who used his music to challenge corruption and inequality, while others have criticized the remarks as disrespectful to the late music legend.
