Davido Berate INEC Over Issues in Edo Governorship Election
Davido, whose mother hails from Edo State, clarified his vested interest in the election, while emphasizing that all Nigerians should be concerned

Lagos, Nigeria – Award-winning Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has voiced his frustration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the challenges encountered during the Edo State governorship election.

Taking to social media, Davido urged INEC to address the election irregularities, reflecting on similar challenges during the Osun State elections. In his tweet, he said, “Bruh, #inecnigeria fix up! We can’t continue like this… wtf.”

Davido, whose mother hails from Edo State, clarified his vested interest in the election, while emphasizing that all Nigerians should be concerned. “My mum is from Edo, for those wondering why I’m interested in the election, but we as Nigerians should be concerned. #inecnigeria shame on you. I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us,” he added.

His comments followed remarks by Deputy Inspector General of Police Frank Mba, who advised voters in Edo State to return home immediately after casting their ballots.

In an interview with Channels Television, Mba recommended that residents exercise their civic duties and leave the polling areas, while also announcing restrictions on vehicular movement between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on election day.

Mba said, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be out on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; it’s your civic duty.”

Responding to Mba’s directive, Davido, a known supporter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), suggested that voters remain at their polling stations, tweeting, “Loooooooool, go where???”

The musician had earlier endorsed the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, ahead of the Edo election.
