Notorious Terrorist, Bello Turji in panic state – CDS
Terrorist Leader Bello Turji panic Following Military Actions, Says CDS Gen. Christopher Musa

In a recent interview, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa revealed that the notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji is exhibiting signs of distress amid intensified military operations against terrorist groups in the North West region of Nigeria.

During the interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of NAN’s inaugural Annual International Lecture in Abuja, Musa noted that the recent elimination of Halilu Buzu, along with several other terrorist commanders, has instilled a sense of fear within Turji’s camp. He highlighted that the actions taken by Turji are indicative of his unsettled state.

“He is clearly panicking,” Gen. Musa asserted. “In the past, he spoke boldly, projecting authority as if he was untouchable. Now, it’s evident that he realizes he is no longer in control. The death of Halilu Buzu, who he regarded as his leader, has made him acutely aware of his vulnerability. He understands that he could be next, and thus, what we are witnessing from him is simply noise.”

The CDS emphasized that Turji has crossed a critical threshold, and assured that military operations against insurgents would persist, inevitably leading to more terrorist casualties. He pointed out that the enduring insecurity in the region is largely attributed to factors such as poverty, illiteracy, and governance issues, which have left many young people without opportunities.

“The prolonged state of insecurity is exacerbated by these challenges,” he explained. “We have a significant youth population that remains idle. The more we eliminate current threats, the more individuals are drawn into these groups. Additionally, with a 1,500-kilometer border with Niger Republic and another border with Benin Republic, a considerable number of individuals move in and out of Nigeria, complicating our efforts.”

With the military’s continued commitment to combating terrorism, the CDS remains hopeful that the tide will turn against these criminal factions in the near future.
