National grid collapses again
Nigeria Plunged into Darkness Again Following National Grid Collapse

Nigeria experienced another major power outage on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, as the national grid suffered a collapse. This event marks the continuation of a troubling trend, with the grid having faced multiple failures throughout October, despite assurances from the Federal Government of a permanent resolution to the ongoing power supply issues.

As reported at 2:35 PM, data showed that no Power Generation Companies had produced any electricity. A statement from Ndidi Mbah, spokesperson for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), revealed that the national grid encountered a partial disturbance at approximately 1:52 PM.

The statement outlined that the disturbance was caused by a series of line and generator trippings, leading to an unstable grid and the subsequent partial outage. TCN engineers are actively working to restore bulk power supply to the areas affected by the disturbance. According to the update, power was successfully restored to Abuja at 2:49 PM, with efforts underway to continue restoring electricity to other regions across the country.

The spokesperson expressed sincere apologies for the inconvenience to electricity consumers, emphasizing the company’s commitment to resolving the issue swiftly.
