Southwest Airlines Flight Struck by Gunfire During Takeoff at Dallas Love Field
Dallas, Texas – A Southwest Airlines aircraft was struck by gunfire while preparing for takeoff at Dallas Love Field Airport on Friday evening, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The incident occurred around 8:30 PM local time (02:30 GMT Saturday) as Southwest Airlines Flight 2494 was taxiing for departure. Reports indicated that the aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, was hit near the cockpit area. Following the incident, the plane returned to the gate, allowing passengers to disembark safely.
Authorities confirmed that there were no injuries reported as a result of the gunfire, according to an announcement from Dallas Love Field Airport shared on the social media platform X. The flight was scheduled to travel from Dallas, Texas, to Indianapolis, Indiana.
