Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The announcement was made during the Nigeria-India Bilateral Meeting held on Sunday at the State House, Abuja.
According to President Tinubu, the award highlights Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with India. He emphasized the deep historical ties and collaboration between the two nations across various sectors.
“I will confer on you today, the Prime Minister of India, Nigeria’s National Honor, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger,” Tinubu stated. “This is to signify Nigerian appreciation and commitment to India as a partner. You stood side by side with Nigeria on many fronts for many decades.”
