Anambra State Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper and Armed Robber

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a 34-year-old man named Nwokpoku Emmanuel in connection with allegations of kidnapping and armed robbery. Emmanuel was taken into custody after he and his accomplices purportedly abducted a victim, demanding a ransom of N15 million for their release.

In a statement released on Saturday, police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest and detailed that the victim’s red Mercedes Benz GLE 450 was also recovered from Emmanuel. He noted that law enforcement officials are actively pursuing other members of the gang, particularly their leader, known only as ‘Ebuka.’

Ikenga’s statement read, “The Anambra State Police Command has in its custody one Nwokpoku Emmanuel, a 34-year-old from Ebonyi State, currently residing in Oduke-Obosi, under investigation for armed robbery and kidnapping incidents. Police operatives have successfully recovered the victim’s red Mercedes Benz GLE 450 and are implementing strategies to apprehend other gang members, especially the individual identified as Ebuka.”

According to police reports, the victim was kidnapped in a nearby state and subsequently released after the ransom was paid. The kidnappers departed with the vehicle, which was later tracked down and recovered at MCC Junction in Onitsha.
