Abuja, Nigeria – A dramatic incident occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja today when an Allied Air Cargo plane skidded off the runway.

According to a statement by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the incident happened at 10:05 am when the cargo plane, with registration number 5N-JRT, suffered a tyre burst, causing it to skid off Runway 22.

Fortunately, all five passengers on board were rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention. No injuries were reported.

The airport’s emergency response team and accident investigators are currently at the scene, working to clear the affected runway. The runway is expected to reopen for operations soon.

The incident has caused significant disruptions, with several departures delayed. FAAN has apologized for the inconvenience and appreciated the understanding and patience of the aviation community and the general public.

The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) will conduct a preliminary investigation into the incident, and the public has been urged to refrain from speculation until the report is released.
