Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, December 25th, Thursday, December 26th, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued on Monday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm wishes to Nigerians, encouraging citizens to use the festive period as a time for reflection on the values of love, peace, and unity that the season embodies. He highlighted the importance of the holidays in promoting harmony and strengthening relationships within families and communities.

“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he stated.

The Minister also called for commitment to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, emphasizing the need for collective efforts toward national development.

Tunji-Ojo assured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s ongoing dedication to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country. He further expressed confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which he believes will bring economic prosperity in 2025.

The Minister concluded by wishing Nigerians a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
