Nigerian Returnees from Niger Welcomed by National Emergency Management Agency
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with various partners, has successfully facilitated the return of a second group of Nigerian nationals from Niger, arriving at the Immigration Training School on Airport Road in Kano. This announcement was made via NEMA’s official X account on Monday.
The returning group, comprising a total of 392 individuals, landed around 3:05 PM. Upon their arrival, the returnees underwent profiling and registration to ensure they received appropriate documentation and access to essential assistance.
The demographic breakdown of the returnees includes 176 adult males, 122 adult females, and 94 children, made up of 78 boys and 16 girls.
This event saw active involvement from multiple stakeholders, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Nigerian Immigration Services, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
In addition, NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Office, along with other partners, welcomed another batch of 148 returnees from Niger back in November. This earlier repatriation was also facilitated by the IOM’s mission in Niger, which included 120 adult males, nine adult females, ten male children, seven female children, and two infants.
