Abuja, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of admissions into the Law programme at nine universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin revealed that the decision follows the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in the affected institutions by the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

The affected universities include:

  • Kwara State University, Malete, Kwara State
  • Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
  • Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State
  • Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
  • Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
  • Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
  • Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
  • Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State

Dr. Benjamin further stated that the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigeria Police Academy will extend for two academic sessions—2025/2026 and 2026/2027—meaning the institution will not admit Law students during this period.

“As a result, JAMB will not approve admissions for candidates seeking to study Law in these universities for the upcoming academic session,” he added.

The announcement underscores the CLE’s role in ensuring that legal education in Nigeria meets the required standards. Candidates who intended to apply for Law in the affected institutions are advised to consider alternative options.
