“Dear God, thank you so much for putting me on this stage and bringing me this team. Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday, and this is her first Grammys. I just want to thank you, mum, because she’s really done a lot for me and my brother. I want to thank my team—thank you so much. To God be the glory, because honestly, He’s changed my life so much.”

Tems’ Rise to Global Stardom

Tems first gained worldwide recognition in 2020 after featuring on Wizkid’s smash hit Essence, which later received a remix with Justin Bieber and peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her collaborations with Drake (Fountains) and Future (Wait for U) further cemented her global reputation.

Her contribution to Wait for U earned her a Grammy in 2023 for Best Melodic Rap Performance, making her one of Africa’s most celebrated female artists.

Breaking Records and Setting New Standards

Beyond her Grammy success, Tems has made significant strides in the global music industry. She:

  • Covered Bob Marley’s No Woman, No Cry for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
  • Co-wrote Rihanna’s Lift Me Up, which earned Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Grammy nominations.
  • Made history with Free Mind, a chart-topping hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

Born in the Wild & Grammy Nominations

In 2024, Tems released her debut studio album, Born in the Wild, to critical acclaim. The album charted in multiple countries and led to her Born in the Wild world tour.

At the Grammy 2025 Awards, she received three nominations:

  • Best African Music Performance (Love Me JeJe) – WINNER
  • Best R&B Song (Burning)
  • Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild)

Tems’ Legacy Grows
