Pastor Abioye’s transition to independent ministry follows decades of service under Bishop Oyedepo and reflects a new chapter in his calling, now outside the umbrella of the Living Faith Church.
Lagos, Nigeria – Pastor David Abioye, the former Vice President of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (popularly known as Winners Chapel), has officially launched his own ministry months after his retirement from active service under Bishop David Oyedepo.
Abioye, who was retired in October 2024 following a policy review by the church that set the mandatory retirement age at 55, made the announcement on Monday via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account. At the time of his retirement, Abioye was 63, while another senior cleric, Pastor Thomas Aremu, who was also affected by the policy, was 67.
The respected cleric revealed that beginning Sunday, May 4, 2025, his ministry will commence Sunday morning services by 8:00 a.m., marking a shift from the evening services the new ministry had been holding since its inception.
“Very important information. From next Sunday by the grace of God, our service is migrating to morning. Hallelujah. And the time is 8am. God bless you mightily in Jesus’ name,” he said in a video shared online.
He added in a separate post: “Exciting news! By the grace of God, starting next Sunday, our service is moving to the morning — 8:00AM. It’s a new day for you — come ready to be blessed mightily in Jesus’ name. Mark your calendars, set your alarms — we can’t wait to see you there! Tag someone you’re inviting!”
