Nigeria’s Afrobeat superstar, Burna Boy performed to close out the 2021 Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony. The performance of “Level Up,” “Onyeka,” and “Ye” came after the Nigerian artist won Best Global Music Album for Twice as Tall.
Hosted by Jhené Aiko, the Grammy Premiere Ceremony also featured performances from Rufus Wainwright, Lido Pimienta, Poppy, and a tribute to Marvin Gaye.
The Global Music Album category was recently reconfigured from previous iterations as the award for Best World Music Album; Twice as Tall won over records from Anoushka Shankar, Bebel Gilberto, Antibalas, and Tinariwen.
Burna Boy, in reacting to his marvellous achievement shouted, “Yes oh! Yes oh! Yes oh! Africa is in the House men! Africa, we are in the House!
“This is a big win for my generation of Africans all over the world!
“And this should be a lesson to every African out there: No matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it.
“No matter where you’re from, because you are a king.
” Look at me now, Grammy Award-winning Burna Boy!
