Drake’s Curse strikes again
Toronto-based rapper Drake has suffered another high-profile loss in his sports betting endeavors. This time, he wagered a substantial sum of $450,000 to defeat Dricus du Plessis in the UFC middleweight championship bout. Unfortunately, Adesanya succumbed to a choke submission in the main event, resulting in Drake’s loss.
The financial stakes were significant, as Drake stood to gain a substantial $850,000 if Adesanya had emerged victorious. This setback marks the second instance of Drake losing a bet on Adesanya. During their initial encounter, Adesanya was knocked out by Alex Pereira, causing Drake to lose a staggering CA$2,000,000 (approximately N600 million).
However, Drake did experience a win when he placed a $400,000 bet on Adesanya to knock out Pereira in the rematch. Despite this solitary victory, the ‘Hotline Bling’ singer has garnered a reputation for his propensity to lose significant sums on sports bets.
Drake’s latest loss serves as a reminder that even the most successful individuals can experience setbacks in their personal endeavors. As his sports betting streak continues, it remains to be seen whether the rapper will alter his approach or continue to take bold risks in the world of sports wagering.
