Ghana’s celebrated events MC and freelance journalist, Ato Turkson, has been named one of the hosts for the 2023 edition of Africa Movie Academy Awards – also known as AMAA.
The announcement was made on the official social media pages of the awards scheme captured by Blogger and Journalist Attractive Mustapha.
Two other names mentioned for the MCing role are popular actress, Nancy Isime, and Rahama Sadau as supporting host.
Ato Turkson comes onboard with a rich experience in live TV broadcasting with the state broadcaster, GTV. He’s MCed over hundred shows and events.
According to him, he’s expecting to have a wonderful experience on his first major international show for the year 2023.
Days ago Popular Ghanaian celebrities in the name of Jackie Appiah, Kalsoume Sinare ,Lydia Forson, Kofi Adjorlolo, Adjety Sowah and others held a night of tributes in Accra to honour the late founder of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) Peace Anyiam-Osigwe ahead of the 19th edition of the annual event.
Peace Anyiam-Osigwe died in a Lagos hospital on January 10.
At the recent event in Accra, AMA organisers noted that the ceremony was “dedicated to reflection, celebration, and cherishing” the filmmaker’s memory.
The award organisers said the presence of the filmmakers in Ghana showed their “dedication to the art of cinema and the legacy of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe”.
The 19th edition of the award will hold at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Lagos on October 19.
This will be the first award ceremony without its founder, the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.
