Soldiers Storm Bayelsa Community, Kill 11 in Search Militant Leader Responsible for the Death of 16 Officers in Delta

Soldiers from the Nigerian military base have stormed Igbomotoru community in Southern Ijaw Local Government of Bayelsa state, killing 11 persons as the hunt for a certain militant leader identified as Amagbe, who is allegedly responsible for the killing of 16 military officers in Okuoma, Delta state continues.

The soldiers were said to have stormed the community in five gunboats shooting sporadically and setting ablaze three houses suspected to be those of wanted militants who allegedly participated in the killing of officers in Delta state.

16 soldiers were killed last week at Okuama community in Delta state by irate youths. Authorities now link those killings to a militant leader known as Amagbe in Bayelsa state.

A source from the affected community, Mr. Ayibakripriye Solomon who spoke to newsmen said that the raid has left the community in despair.

A report by the Sun Newspapers said while 11 corpses of victims of the raid were recovered after the soldiers left the community and the number of injured persons are yet to be ascertained.
