In response to the growing concerns over food security and recent incidents of food warehouse looting across the nation, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, announced plans to distribute 42,000 metric tons of grains across all 36 states of Nigeria.

The initiative, approved by President Bola Tinubu, aims to alleviate the hardships faced by many amidst the current challenges.

Speaking through his official communication channel, Minister Kyari emphasized the government’s commitment to the well-being of its citizens during these trying times. Collaborating with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Department of State Service (DSS), the ministry ensures that the grains reach the intended recipients in the appropriate quantities and packages.

Additionally, Minister Kyari revealed that 58,500 metric tons of milled rice from major rice millers would be released into the market to stabilize food prices and availability.

“In these trying times, I extend my sincere compassion to those affected by the hardships in the country. I understand the gravity of the situation, especially with the unfortunate event of foodstuff warehouses looting,” Minister Kyari expressed.
