First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Denies Organizing National Prayer for Nigeria
Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu affirmed her strong belief in the power of prayer and the importance of praying for the nation but emphasized that such acts should come from a place of genuine willingness and sincerity.

Abuja, Nigeria – First Lady Oluremi Tinubu refuted claims that she plans to lead a national prayer initiative aimed at addressing the various challenges facing Nigeria. Reports circulated that Mrs. Tinubu would collaborate with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for a seven-day event titled ‘Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs,’ which would be coordinated by Segun Afolorunikan, the Director-General of the National Prayer Forum.

Afolorunikan had announced the initiative during a press conference in Abuja, emphasizing its aim of seeking divine support for the pressing socio-economic and security issues the nation confronts. He highlighted that the prayer gathering for Christians would take place at the National Ecumenical Centre, featuring participants from diverse denominations focusing on the country’s adversities.

However, in a statement released by her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady clarified that the reports about her organizing a national prayer were baseless and misleading.

Mrs. Tinubu affirmed her strong belief in the power of prayer and the importance of praying for the nation but emphasized that such acts should come from a place of genuine willingness and sincerity.

The statement read: “This is to clarify and inform the general public that the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is not organizing a national prayer. The news circulating on various traditional and social media platforms is unfounded and misleading. Anyone who has encountered information regarding a joint national prayer for Nigeria should consider it false.”

She further expressed that while she is a Christian and advocates for prayer, she believes that every Nigerian, regardless of their religious beliefs, political views, ethnicity, or language, has a role to play in praying for the country.

The public is advised to verify any news or events involving the First Lady or her office through official channels to ensure accuracy.
