The Katsina State Hisbah Board has made a significant haul in its ongoing efforts to combat immoral behaviors and indiscipline in the state. According to the Hisbah Commander, Dr Aminu Usman, his team seized 142 cartons of alcohol intended for delivery to Daura Local Government Area during a city-wide patrol on Monday.
The operation, which was supervised by Malam Nafi’u Ma’azu-Akilu, resulted in the interception of the vehicle carrying the alcohol along the state’s ring road. The seized items were taken to the board’s headquarters for further investigation.
In a separate development, two women, Fatima Umar (Yargata) and Raliya Isah (Yar Ruma), both aged 24, were arraigned in court for the fourth time on charges of loitering and immoral conduct. Despite previous warnings and counseling, the girls failed to reform their behavior, leading to their arraignment before a Sharia Court.
According to Dr Usman, the women pleaded guilty to the charges and were remanded in the correctional facility until Thursday for further trial. The Hisbah Commander has called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to intensify efforts in instilling discipline and good morals among youths in their communities.
He also appealed to them to continue supporting the board in maintaining good morals and restoring the values of their communities. The Hisbah Commander’s remarks underscore the importance of collective responsibility in promoting a society that values morality and discipline.
