Nigerian Doctor Sparks Debate: Claims Increased Sexual Activity for Women and Polygamy for Men Can Prevent Cancer and Boost Longevity
Dr. Rasheed Abassi, a prominent Nigerian medical practitioner, has stirred controversy with his remarks on TVC’s Your View. According to Dr. Abassi, increased sexual activity can lower the risk of breast cancer in women, a claim that has sparked mixed reactions among health experts and the public.
“Women need to have more sex to reduce breast cancer risk. Orgasm releases oxytocin, a hormone that significantly lowers the chances of developing cancer,”
Dr. Abassi said during the program.
Polygamy as a Health Booster?
Dr. Abassi also recommended polygamy for men, claiming it offers health benefits, including reduced prostate cancer risks and increased longevity.
“Men with two to three wives tend to live longer than those with only one. Regular sexual activity reduces dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels, which can help prevent prostate enlargement,”
he explained.
He further highlighted the link between men’s sexual health and cardiac issues.
“A man who doesn’t wake up with a full erection likely has underlying heart problems. My oldest patient is 92 years old and has a four-year-old daughter — all DNA-proven,” he added.
The STI Concern
Addressing concerns about sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Dr. Abassi emphasized the importance of safe sex practices. “While condoms aren’t 100% effective, they are still highly recommended. Awareness is crucial,” he said.
He also pointed out the financial aspect, noting that some men complain about the cost of contraceptives while engaging in other costly behaviors.
Mixed Reactions to Controversial Claims
Dr. Abassi’s comments have sparked heated discussions online, with some applauding his views while others question the scientific backing of his claims. Health experts continue to stress that regular medical checkups, healthy diets, and exercise remain critical components of cancer prevention.
