Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the appointment of Ikechukwu Chika Onyemekara as its new spokesperson. Onyemekara brings extensive expertise in marketing and public relations, backed by a Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing.
Onyemekara’s journey with the NPA began in 1992 when he joined as a marketing officer, where he quickly developed a deep understanding of the maritime sector. Here, he managed media relations, diplomatic interactions, and government correspondence for several Managing Directors of the NPA, further enhancing his reputation as a key player within the organization.
In addition to his domestic responsibilities, Onyemekara has effectively represented the NPA at international forums such as the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). He participated in important working groups including the Editorial and Technical (E&T) Group for the IMSBC Code, and has also engaged in various national and international capacity-building workshops sponsored by the Authority.
An enthusiastic reader and travel enthusiast, Onyemekara is actively involved with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and participates in alumni events for the Federal Government College Kaduna.
