In a shocking twist, two domestic staff members of the late Mrs. Olakunbi Adene, CEO of Kitchen Country in Akure, Ondo state, have confessed to murdering their boss after she prepared a lavish meal for them to celebrate her 54th birthday.
According to the suspects, they descended on their boss after dinner, gagging her mouth and using two large cutlasses to cut her head while she pleaded for mercy. The noise from the generator in the house, which was on between 6pm and 7pm, did not alert anyone to their actions.
The suspects, who were tracked by police detectives after stealing their boss’s two Android phones, revealed that they used knives to stab her repeatedly, with one of them breaking during the attack. They also covered her head with a duvet and continued hitting her, eventually cutting her wrist and leg.
In a gruesome attempt to cover their tracks, the suspects lit the gas in the kitchen and emptied the gas cylinder to make it explode. However, their plan failed as the gas cylinder did not explode. They then took their boss’s ATM cards and phones before fleeing the scene.
The deceased’s husband, Dele Adene, confirmed that the killers used knives to stab his wife severely. He revealed that the police are still searching for the knives used in the attack, which may have been buried in her stomach.
The autopsy report will be conducted later to determine the extent of the injuries sustained by Mrs. Adene.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Adene’s younger brother, Adebola Oyeneye, was present at the mortuary when his sister’s body was taken there. He described the gruesome injuries inflicted on her body, including burns on her stomach.
The police investigation is ongoing, and it is hoped that justice will be served for Mrs. Adene’s brutal murder.
