President Bola Tinubu’s youth support groups distribute 50,000 family food packs to vulnerable Nigerians during Ramadan.
In a gesture of solidarity and compassion, a coalition of youth support groups of President Bola Tinubu has undertaken the noble initiative of distributing 50,000 family food packs to vulnerable Nigerians across the country during the holy month of Ramadan. Supported by ministers and special advisers to the president, these groups have embarked on a mission to alleviate the hardships faced by vulnerable families during this sacred period.
The distribution of free family food boxes to 50,000 vulnerable families in Nigeria is set to conclude on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, according to a statement released on Monday. Each family food box contains essential dry food items, including rice, semolina, tomato paste, and other supplies, designed to sustain a family for five days. Over the past three weeks, the distribution has been carried out through various community-focused outreaches, reaching families in need across all geopolitical regions of the country.
Seyi Tinubu, the Patron of the City Boy Movement, expressed gratitude to the supporters, volunteers, and partners whose invaluable contributions have ensured the success of the program. He commended the private sector partners for their generous donations and hailed the volunteers from diverse backgrounds for their dedication to the cause. Regardless of creed, tribe, or religion, these volunteers have demonstrated the enduring spirit of community and compassion that resonates throughout Nigeria. Tinubu extended his heartfelt prayers for the Almighty to bless and reward everyone involved in this humanitarian endeavor.
As the distribution of food packs draws to a close, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to mark the end of the Ramadan celebration. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this decision in a statement released on Sunday by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Aishetu Ndayako.
Minister Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims for the successful completion of the fasting period in the holy month of Ramadan. The declaration of public holidays underscores the significance of this religious occasion and provides an opportunity for Muslims across the country to celebrate and reflect on the spiritual journey they have undertaken over the past month.
As Nigerians come together to observe the conclusion of Ramadan and celebrate the spirit of unity and compassion, the efforts of the coalition of youth support groups stand as a shining example of selflessness and generosity. Their commitment to serving the most vulnerable members of society exemplifies the true essence of Ramadan, reminding us all of the importance of compassion, empathy, and solidarity in times of need.
