Wike Remains Focused on Abuja’s Development Despite Criticism
ABUJA – Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike asserted his unwavering commitment to the development of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, during a recent event. Speaking at the inauguration of the design, construction, and furnishing of the office annex for the Body of Benchers of Nigeria, Wike highlighted that he remains unperturbed by the comments and actions of his critics.
Wike expressed his gratitude for being a part of the project, labeling the occasion as a significant honor. “This honor will enable us to enhance the legal profession further,” he noted. Acknowledging the challenges that come with being a politician, he emphasized the importance of resilience, stating, “As a politician, one must have a thick skin. I possess that thick skin.”
The minister elaborated on his approach to criticism, asserting, “I don’t hear what people say; I don’t see those who make those statements, and I will not engage with them. A politician must be able to manage three key aspects: one, he can’t see; two, he can’t talk; and three, he can’t hear.”
Wike reinforced his determination to focus on his responsibilities, saying, “Whatever anyone says, I remain unaware of it. I won’t be drawn into conversations with those who criticize me. Instead, I will continue my work for the betterment of the country.”
As a practicing lawyer, Wike expressed his satisfaction in contributing to the advancement of legal education and the judiciary in Nigeria, reaffirming his dedication to his role.
