President Tinubu’s remarks came during a traditional sallah homage at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Wike led a delegation of esteemed FCT residents to celebrate the end of Ramadan and the Eid el-fitr holiday. While President Tinubu represents the ruling APC, Wike is a prominent figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During the event, Tinubu referred to Wike as ‘Mr. Infrastructure’ and highlighted numerous projects and initiatives that have enhanced the quality of life for residents in Abuja. He conveyed his gratitude to the Minister for these developments, noting, “I could see the diversity of men and women here, I must thank the Honorable Minister of FCT. It’s worth it. It is nothing other than a privilege to be the landlord of everyone in Abuja.”

The President acknowledged Wike’s contributions to streamlining bureaucratic processes, stating, “When we started, he came up with many good ideas to liberate the bureaucracy and foster forward-thinking administration. He has provided opportunities for many that would have faced barriers due to property rights.”

Tinubu recalled a conversation with Wike regarding the Treasury Single Account (TSA), where Wike sought to find ways to overcome fiscal challenges to enhance his performance. “I asked him if making such changes would favor the APC in upcoming elections,” said Tinubu, who added that they reached a mutual understanding that would benefit both parties.

The President commended Wike’s quick implementation of improvements, such as revitalizing rural areas, completing long-stalled projects, and upgrading health facilities in the FCT. He expressed appreciation for Wike’s initiatives that have led to enhancements in education, health services, and overall community welfare.

Emphasizing the importance of collaborative governance, Tinubu remarked, “Today, we live in peace as security improves. People are seeking results and comfort. They desire good health and fair leadership. It’s about everyone working together; we belong to one family of hope and belief in Nigeria.”

Highlighting Wike’s background, Tinubu pointed out that Wike, hailing from southern Nigeria, has been effectively operating at the heart of northern Nigeria, showcasing the country’s diversity as a strength for development.

“There is a trust placed in me as a custodian of your faith, and only Allah grants power,” he added. “Those given power must wield it justly and compassionately, demonstrating that this privilege requires responsible stewardship.”

Following the President’s address, Wike expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the recognition from Tinubu. “I am pleased that my boss has confidence in me,” Wike said, underscoring the importance of public encouragement in his role as Minister. “We are committed to continuing our work for the satisfaction of the Abuja populace, and we will not let him down.”
