Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced the commencement of its recruitment for tax officer roles, with applications opening at 12:00 am on November 2.

The tax authority is recruiting for Officer I and Officer II positions across eight states in Nigeria, targeting Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo.

The FIRS’s official notice, shared on social media platform X on Friday, highlighted its commitment to inclusive hiring. “Women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply,” the post read.

Applicants should be aware that, although positions are initially based in the listed states, successful candidates may be required to work in any FIRS location nationwide.

Eligibility Requirements


To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be 27 years old or younger by December 31, 2024.
  • NYSC Completion: Candidates must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program no later than December 31, 2021.
  • Educational Background: Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least First Class or Second Class Upper Division in relevant fields, including Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Economics, Law, Mathematics, and Statistics, among others.
  • Additional Qualifications: A Master’s degree and professional certifications (such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, COREN, NSE) will be an advantage.


Application Process and Deadline

Candidates should submit their applications through the official portal at www.firs.gov.ng/careers, with the deadline set for November 14, 2024. FIRS advises applicants to submit only one application for their preferred location, as multiple entries will not be permitted.

The recruitment process will involve several assessment stages, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for aptitude tests, interviews, and medical examinations.

In its announcement, the agency urged caution against fraudulent recruitment schemes, emphasizing that only applications submitted through the official portal would be considered.

The FIRS reiterated its commitment to diversity, stating, “The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all eligible candidates, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background.”
