Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of a woman suspected of child trafficking and the rescue of 16 children from her possession in an estate in Ozuoba, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Residents of the area had grown suspicious of the woman’s activities, noticing that she frequently brought different children to her home, some of whom were allegedly taken from churches and unknown locations.

Acting on a tip-off, police officers from the Ozuoba team raided the estate and rescued the children. The case has been transferred to the Commissioner of Police Monitoring Unit for further investigation.

Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident, stating that 16 children were rescued and one suspect has been arrested. However, she noted that investigation is ongoing to determine if there are additional suspects involved.
