Operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a sophisticated drug smuggling attempt involving Cerelac baby food tins.
The discovery was announced by Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, through a series of videos posted on X microblog account.
Babafemi highlighted the alarming trend of using everyday items to conceal illicit drugs, stating, “Not even tins of Cerelac baby food are spared in their desperation to conceal and export illicit drugs.”
The agency has not released details about the location of the operation or the suspects involved. However, Babafemi issued a stern warning to the public about the dangers of unknowingly transporting illegal substances, emphasizing that possession of such drugs can result in a 15-year prison sentence.
