Approves the recommencement of suspended employment at Ignatius Ajuru University
In a bid to enhance the educational sector in Rivers State, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has underscored the significance of channeling resources towards its development.
Speaking during the inauguration of newly constituted Governing Councils of state-owned universities and a polytechnic, Fubara emphasized the need for excellence and standards in education.
Governor Fubara charged the council members to review the educational curriculum to address deficits and enhance functional skills acquisition.
He also approved the recommencement of suspended employment at Ignatius Ajuru University, stressing the importance of merit-based selection.
Responding to critics, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to delivering good governance and democratic dividends, highlighting the focus on purposeful education that fosters creativity and independence.
The governor attributed youth restiveness to educational shortcomings and urged council members to strive for excellence.
Justice Mary Odili, JSC (Rtd), Chairman of the Governing Council of Rivers State University, thanked the governor for the opportunity and pledged to work towards an enduring educational legacy.
Pro-Chancellors of other institutions, Chief Adokiye Amiesemaka and Dr. Robinson Ewoh, also commended the governor and expressed readiness to fulfill their mandates. They emphasized the importance of reviving skills acquisition to curb truancy and enhance youth development.
