I Will Blow Up Iran if it ‘harms’ a US election candidate – Trump

Trump Threatens to Destroy Iran if It’s Involved in Attacks on US Leaders

Former President Donald Trump warned that he would order the destruction of Iran’s largest cities and the country itself if Tehran is involved in any attacks on a US White House candidate or ex-president.

Trump’s comments come amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran, following intelligence warnings of threats against his life and two recent assassination attempts. Speaking at a campaign event in North Carolina, Trump said that if he were still president, he would inform Iran that any harm inflicted on a US leader would have severe consequences.

“I would tell them, if you do anything to harm this person, we’re going to blow your largest cities and the country itself to smithereens,” Trump declared. “The best way to do it is through the office of the president – if you do any attacks on former presidents or candidates for president, your country gets blown to smithereens.”

Trump’s remarks were sparked by recent intelligence warnings of threats from Tehran against his life. In July, a gunman opened fire at a rally in Pennsylvania, killing one person and wounding the presidential candidate. Trump had also accused Iran of being involved in another attempted assassination in Florida.

The former president suggested that foreign-based apps may have been used in both attacks, and that US authorities have been unable to access multiple mobile phones used by the alleged gunmen. He called on tech giants like Apple to open up these foreign apps and assist in the investigation.

Trump’s comments also touched on the security arrangements for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is currently attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Trump noted that Pezeshkian was receiving substantial protection from US authorities despite the threats against him and other US leaders.

The escalating tensions between Iran and the US come as world leaders scramble to prevent a wider regional conflict between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israel. The situation remains volatile, with both sides trading accusations and warnings.

Trump’s threat to destroy Iran has been met with widespread criticism from diplomats and experts, who warn that such rhetoric could lead to catastrophic consequences. The international community is urging caution and calling for dialogue to resolve the crisis peacefully.
