Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner and Wife Regain Freedom

The Anambra commissioner and his wife were abducted on Friday along the Edo-Kogi Expressway while en route to Abuja to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Mba, and his wife have been released from captivity after spending a day with their abductors.

Their release was confirmed by a top government official who spoke to Punch Online on the condition of anonymity on Saturday night.

“The kidnapped Commissioner of Youth Development and his wife have been released today. To God be the glory. The state government will soon issue a statement on that,” the source revealed.

The Anambra commissioner and his wife were abducted on Friday along the Edo-Kogi Expressway while en route to Abuja to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

They were traveling in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus with other passengers when the incident occurred.

Tragically, one of the commissioner’s aides, who was also on the journey, was killed during the attack.

As of now, the state government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
