The father of 17-year-old Spanish football sensation Lamine Yamal was brutally stabbed multiple times in a car park in Mataró, a coastal town north of Barcelona.
Mounir Nasraoui, Yamal’s father, was attacked on Wednesday night by a group he had reportedly argued with earlier that day while walking his dog. The incident took place near the Rocafonda neighborhood where Yamal grew up.
Catalan police have arrested three suspects connected to the assault, with a fourth individual detained on Thursday morning.
Mr. Nasraoui was rushed to a hospital in Barcelona in serious condition but is now reported to be stable. He is expected to remain under observation for two or three days, according to sources.
The motivation behind the attack remains unclear.
Lamine Yamal, who made history as Spain’s youngest-ever player, recently shone at Euro 2024, where he was named Young Player of the Tournament. His assist in Spain’s 2-1 victory over England in the final only added to the rising star’s accolades.
In Mataró, fans celebrated Yamal’s success shortly after Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, unaware of the tragedy that would soon follow.
